In the mid nineteen eighties the challenges of directing the efforts of a trenchless construction crew efficiently were nothing short of overwhelming. This was what prompted the founders of Earth Tool Company LLC (ETC) to conceive, design and produce the HammerHead Mole product line. Armed with a strong technical background and years of experience in dynamic engineering they decided to use their experience to design, develop and manufacture equipment that would efficiently and effectively install utilities in a trenchless manner. The idea was to produce a line of tools that offered superior performance, reliability and maintainability.

In a garage with a few machine tools and the motivation generated by contracts to install miles of pipe ETC went about transforming itself from a construction services company to a developer of both methods and the related equipment needed to effectively compete in and expand the size of the trenchless construction marketplace.

The company's first offering, a 3" HammerHead Mole piercing tool, brought to the trenchless marketplace a piercing tool with a patented rear anvil design. The tool was efficient, reliable and cost effective. The tool could also be maintained and repaired in the field with commonly available hand tools, a first in the industry.

The initial desire to improve the fundamental design of the equipment and methodologies used in trenchless construction has brought ETC to where it is today: a company that understands the need to focus on our customer's requirements for continuing product improvement and world class technical support.
